Luby`s Cafeteria in San Antonio

I've always love to eat at Luby's. My grandmother used to take my sister & I on special occasions since I was 13 yrs. old.. To this day I still go there. It's one of my favorite cafeteria restaurants to eat. Delicious desserts!!

Food was fresh and delicious. Staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Bathroom was clean. Facility is a bit dated and not too weather proof during this chilly cold front. The windows were going crazy with the excessive wind. Tables were left dirty for quite awhile (not bussed). But the experience was pleasant. The desserts looked DELICIOUS. I ordered the Luann Platter and took half of it home.. But still left full. I would definitely go back.

It had been too long since my last cafeteria dining experience. I had a great meal and really enjoyed the fried fish. I will be back.

Went for this past Thanksgiving and there was a line but it went so fast and the staff was so kind, they even helped me by pushing my stroller to the table. Definitely going back to this location!

Management needs to follow through with employees. The service is extremely slow whether you order on-line, drive-thru or go in to order. I have came several times in hope that perhaps the day I experienced extremely slow service and employees confusion was just a “bad day”. Nope. This is a reoccurring problem.

I ordered to go. Every thing was correct. The food was hot and very good. Roasted chickenWas moist and delicious The green beans very seasoned well.Mashed potatoes and Mac and Cheese.I was pleased Keep up the great work.And the lady at the drive thru window wasVery polite and nice. It was good. They do distancing. Not all tables are open. Service was great.

The service was good towards the customers but thought they staff was a little disorganized. Looked like one or two ladies where doing same roll. Because of that one lady didnt get my order exactly, no big deal but seem like doing more duties, you tend to forget a few things. The staff looked and talked stressed to each other. One lady complained to a customer that she had to work a 12-hour shift, probably exaggerated but seems like she was stressedStress equals to mistakes. How is this true of my visit? The machine couldn't take credit cards so they wrote the card info down around 230pm?

Cafeteria food never tasted so good! So many options. My faves are the chicken fried steak, fish, turkey, Angus steak, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and hot rolls. Save room for dessert. Large open dining area. Friendly staff.

This is one of the best locations in the city. Food is good and the wait depends on what time of day you go. Wait staff is friendly.

If you like liver and onions, steamed spinach and boiled cabbage, Luby’s downtown location should be on your go-to list. This meal never disappoints. Tip: don’t get a tea or soft drink; just get a water. That will save you $1.95 + tax on your bill. And you can leave with a full meal for under $10. Worth a trip.

We come monthly on the 4th. We always sit in Mary's section because she is so friendly and takes great care of us.

Did I mentioned that they do have an all you can eat breakfast just for $7.99 for adults and $5.99 for children on Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 10:30am? You got to see it to believe it. The location on 281 and bitters is one of the top. They also have it on 1604&Bandera , on Fredericksburg rd , Las Palmas... I just don't want to sit on this without sharing... it's too good to believe

Poor food, was not fully cooked, we didn't have a lot of options to choose from due to almost closing time, but I feel that no matter what time it was suppose to close should still have variety of options for us to choose from. We only had one option to choose and that was meat loaf. So we took it to end up not eating it. The manager was understanding and gave us a full refund ,the server was polite and friendly so thank you for that. So I just feel that we should still the variety of options to chose from ,instead of trying to rush out of there due to closing time. So this was our meat loaf and this is the way it was also served looked like dog food.

We had a large party (10 adults 2 kids, our non-profit's board members Thanksgiving luncheon) and the salad bar guy noticed and offered to reserve us a table. Our server was attentive and super sweet, he even brought us to go containers for the cake we had brought since everyone was too stuffed to enjoy at the restaurant. Exceptional service!!

Good food, but ridiculously priced. I can never tell if it's less expensive to get the Luann or the combo. They're prices seem subject to change. One slice of cake is nearly $5.00! I prefer places with set prices, clearly priced.

Fantastic! Monica served our table and was very gracious and kind. Kudos to her! This is the best. Hot fresh food made on premises, reasonably priced with a spacious comfortable dining area.

Food order was incorrect. I was missing a side item, luckily I checked bag before I left drive thru. I also was shocked to see a new fee being charged to my order for plastic bags. Should I bring my own bags for take out ??

First time at this location near downtown. We went on a Sunday. Food was good and Maria our server was very nice. Clean and pleasant atmosphere.

Food was not hot. Had an issue with our food spoke to manager Juanita but she has no concept of customer service. Will definitely not revisit this establishment.

Not set up to handle curbside pickup during COVID. Have 12 signs numbered & labeled Curbside Pickup but no way to notify anyone to bring you your order. Finally went inside to pickup, No Masks Required, small area multiple customers, one employee who said "we dont do curbside". They forgot my carrot cake. Called, hung up on 2x, talked to manager, no way to credit, must go through Corporate office for credit. Lots of wasted time & not safe for COVID. BTW the fish was overcooked & hard because it had been sitting there while I waited at Curbside.

Had the Turkey combo. It was really good. The service was amazing. The staff are really friendly, and the cheesecake was fluffy.

My uncle took me here when I visited he & my aunt in Nov-Dec.2018 (thought I'd left review B4) Loved the food & what I couldn't finish came home for leftover meals--STILL great, especially the fried chicken & pie! 😋

Great place to take the family especially if you have kids. There is a variety of foods to choose from so there is something for everyone.

Luby's buffet style restaurant is a Texas Original comfort foodies dream come true. Every food dish that makes you feel all special inside is served fresh all day long. Texans that have moved out of The Republic of Texas on account of careers, family and stuff beat a worn path right to Luby's front door upon their return to our little patch of Heaven. The food is always fresh, good and served with a great big ole Texas smile. If you have a big truck and/or short lunch this place is for you. Big Parking lot and food hot and ready in buffet line. Was in and out in 20 minutes.

The first few times I visited this location I was very impressed, the food was amazing the wait staff was even better. This location is by no means bad now but it isn't what it was six months ago and to me that's sad because lubys is a Texas tradition.

Luby's is a well know established restaurant in San Antonio. Many of us grew up going to eat there on special occasions. My latest visit was with my granddaughter who was thinking of getting a dessert. Interestingly, she choose the blue jello. Luby's baked chicken never ceases to impress as does their dressing with a big glob of cranberry sauce. I don't go to Luby's as often as I should. Will try to make it back soon.

First time to Lubys. I had much lower expectations. I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans and I ate it all.

Horrible service. Waited 20 plus minutes till i got up and asked if someone was gonna bring me my plate. I ordered the chicken fried chicken but had to wait for more to come out. Server made a face at me and never bothered to stop by my table. Horrible place

Cooked flavorful desert to die for weekly agenda love Wednesdays always getting enchiladas they put extra sauce and I didn't have to ask. Variety of sides that are freshly cooked to perfection. The beans man it's better than my jefa frijoles but don't tell her. And they have senior discounts to. No matter what I'm going to the deserts to see if they have my all time favorites. Lemon pie craps filled cream cheese topped with strawberry and strawberry fillings. You can always ask for extra home made whipped cream. Carrot salad with raisins and pineapple to die for.

Covid 19 and we were craving Luby’s signature fish. Priscilla took the order and was sure she did not leave out anything. Order was complete and tasty as always. We didnt feel like cooking and Luby’s came through clutch today. Thanks 🙏🏼

This classic place has always had very friendly staff, fresh food, and clean seating areas. The desserts are also displayed enticingly, and the servers are attentive and super helpful. Try the daily specials to have great variety!

The Luby's downtown on Main has been around for as long as I can remember. Its a tradition to gather at Luby's after church on Sunday's and enjoy a good meal together. The staff is always very friendly, helpful and loyal. They have a variety of food options, the LuAnn is a long time favorite, they have daily specials and offer reasonably priced regular plates. They also have private rooms for meetings and parties, small or large. It has been a tradition in my family ever since my Grandparents went there.

Good dependable food. Really enjoyed the chicken fried chicken.

The staff treats you like royalty,(sandra,ned,brandy,servers, & the rest of the cohorts) provide you with all the expertise of wide range of the most delicious meats,veggies,& desserts. Its just another palate of good ole Texas homestyle cookin at its best. Thank you lubys for a taste of heaven right here around the corner(Texas). Great place to have a private dining party for ex. my daughter's graduation party. God Bless all the great folks @ Lubys for the greatest dining experience in Texas....I mean the universe😃

Great food choices. A true Texas classic restaurant. Favorites are the fried fish, spaghetti, and fried chicken. The desserts are also great. Staff are always helpful.
